Over the phone I was told by staff that the food pantry is open to community members. When I went I was turned away. The website makes it seem like El Centro campus participates in food pantry community days but if this is incorrect it needs to be updated. Wasting the time of needy community members is very inconsiderate.

Edit to respond to response: I would like to ask you to consider the point of community access to the El Centro campus food pantry. I understand that limiting access likely comes from a standpoint of "security concern", but creating barriers to access because vulnerable people can be volatile is not the humane answer. They deserve to access resources that are conveniently located in downtown. Personally the difference between accessible and not accessible can be as small as having to go to a different location. Disability accessibility requires understanding of how much more judicial disabled people have to be with allocating their energy. Many people are unable to utilize the resources that are supposedly available to them because of barriers like transportation, funds, and worst of all, dispassionate policy choices.
Being a resource that is so limited and high demand is obviously not easy but when people rely on you, it is your responsibility to provide accessibility.
This critique is not from a place of anger but to foster critical thinking about the choice to make accessing food harder for vulnerable community members and its consequences.

How come every success coach (except Trevor and Ruben) act like they do not want to help with ANYTHING… isn’t your job to help us Succeed. Pure laziness. I need HELP and they never want to assist. Always try to make me do things by myself when I express many times I need help. Because of that I was late to registering classes. Needed online and only in person was available. Also they never want to contact you back. You make an appointment and they no show. Unprofessional. Why even sign up for the job?

What is the need of having a number when you refuse to pick it up when it rings? For more than 2weeks I have been trying to reach the admission office to no avail. The phone keeps ringing and nobody is picking up. Why put up phone numbers when you all know you won't pick up. It's frustrating.

I’ve been calling for forever. I’ve even reach Eian Gallegos and no call back. I’m not able to sign up for classes and the deadline is coming up. Who do I need to contact since you all are not trying to help students succeed?

I’ve decided on probably going elsewhere to continue my education. This past few months I’ve been nothing but stressed due to no one being able to help me and receiving bad services & attitude. (I’m also new to this state). MY EXPERIENCE: I applied, I set up an in-person appointment with a success coach, which soon turned into phone call 10-15 mins before my appointment because he wasn’t in office anymore. I did the pre assessment and sent him proof, he said I was good to take the TSI assessment & take the vaccine, okay cool. It’s the day for my vaccine, My appointment was at 1, and my test was at 2.. The lady decided she was gonna take her lunch right when I got there *i just missed her* and come back an hour later, cool I guess I’ll just take it another day. 2 rolls around, I go to the testing site and the lady at the desk was treating me like I was slow or something as if i didn’t know what I was talking about and proceeded to tell me I couldn’t test due to having the wrong “proof”. And constantly kept cutting me off. This was very frustrating because no one would give me a direct answer on what I needed to show. I spent $15 on parking just to be there just for an hour. I’ve never been so frustrated & disappointed.
ALSO GOOD LUCK WITH GETTING SOMEONE ON THE PHONE

I am an alumni. I had a positive experience here. I will say I’ve heard there’s new management here and that post 2019 & beyond it’s gone a bit downhill. I had blast during my time here, such a shame to hear others negative experiences. Such a cool campus to study and learn in.
